ITINERARY

Our  journey to Oaxaca is an amazingly unique experience.

We fly into Oaxaca airport and stay at a lovely hotel in the city.  We will explore the city and its environs for 4 days including a day trip up to the Sierra Norte for exposure to the plants and medicines of the region as well as the beautiful mountain scenery and remote villages. The beauty and vibrancy of the city is legendary. The whole region is renowned for art, hospitality, and natural beauty.

Our time together in Oaxaca City will be enriched by the Day of the Dead celebrations which are renowned for their color and diverse expressions. Flowers, paintings, music, altars, parades, face painting, and artisan wares are everywhere. The Day of the Dead is the most important celebration of the year and the entire city is a festival of art and magic.  This is not to be missed! There will be free time in the City to explore and there will be much to see!

Leaving the city in the late day, after a visit to handcraft villages, we will drive up into the mountains and spend the night there above the clouds.  We wind down the other side toward the Pacific Ocean and head to the jungle and a private family home at the coffee plantation. In this remote setting, enjoying the warm hospitality of the family, we stay ‘en famille’, and can settle in to appreciate the extraordinary environment and the amazing work offered by Elizabeth, a daughter in the family, a curandera or healer and a gifted ceremonialist.

She will lead us on an inner adventure, using rituals in nature, guided by her intuitive insight, which will uplift, challenge, and empower us. There will be lots of laughter! We will become aware of all that is unseen, and shift away from our western perspective.

The experience is truly “magic” as all kinds of synchronicities appear and we find a kind of freedom that is joyful, playful, and deeply touching.

There will be time for walking, swimming, bird watching, and gathering in circle for sharing, singing, yoga, pranayama and so much else. The area is full of natural life and is far off the beaten track.

The simplicity of the accommodations is a counter point to our own process of shedding what doesn’t serve us and awakening to new insights.

Delicious meals will be served family style and wine, beer, and cocktails will be available for purchase.

Elizabeth will provide individual sessions as well as group work, and we will be uplifted by her compassionate presence and deep wisdom as she sits with us to offer her traditional indigenous perspective.

Departing the finca, we travel three hours to the beautiful  Pacific beach town of San Agustnillo, a true paradise.

There we stay in a bungalow style hotel on a gorgeous beach.

Exploration of the area includes a boat ride in the open ocean to see turtles, bird, dolphins, and maybe whales, as well as a visit by boat to the lagoon at La Ventanilla for incredible wildlife viewing.

We will hike to Punta Cometa to watch the sunset and visit the community projects in Mazunte- the natural cosmetic factory and the turtle museum.  We will also experience the Temezcal or Mexican sweat lodge in a beautiful place, led by an accomplished healer.

This will be a chance to integrate, restore, and enjoy. There are wonderful restaurants and beautiful vistas as well as welcoming hammocks.

After 3 restorative days on the beach,  we transfer to Hautulco airport in time for the 10:30 flight to Mexico City where we can change planes for our destination.

This is a unique journey for someone who is looking for something more meaningful than a traditional tour, this is a chance to grow, stretch, and experience something completely new, in a beautiful place, with the help of talented guides and a supportive group.
