Frequently Asked Questions

Transformational Kayak Journeys

  • What do I bring? We will send you a list of what to bring when you register.
  • Do I need to take camping gear? Yes but we have some extra gear if you need something.
  • Can I take my kayak? If you have your own kayak, please let us know the make and model so we can make sure it’s safe and appropriate for this trip. Sit-on-tops are not an option for this trip – it must have hatches in order to carry your gear and group equipment.
  • How do I rent a kayak? You can rent wherever you like, but we have a special agreement with the Olympic Outdoor Center (based in Port Gamble, WA) in which they don’t charge us for delivery and drop off. It includes a kayak, paddle, lifejacket and spray skirt. You can call them to reserve your rental kayak and they will bring it on the first day of the trip. They will need your height, weight and kayaking experience in order to choose the proper kayak for you.
  • Can I take a double kayak? If you have someone who will paddle with you, then yes, absolutely! If you have your own double, please check with Spring to ensure it’s safe and appropriate for this trip.
  • Do I have to know how to swim? No, you do not need to know how to swim. We are trained kayak professionals and will always be near enough to get you back in your kayak if anything happens.
  • Do I need to know how to kayak? No, we have taken people who have never been kayaking on these trips! If you have time, we do recommend trying out kayaking to ensure you’ll be comfortable, but it is not a requirement.
  • Do I need to be in shape? Mostly, yes. You don’t have to be an Olympic athlete or even to have kayaked before, but we will be paddling about 2.5 miles and you will need to propel yourself there. We’ve had all shapes and sizes on these trips 🙂 If you’re concerned, please contact us.
  • I’m not really into group things or those Kumbaya trips – will I still like this trip?” Well, probably not. While we do encourage some solo time, much of our time is spent together – laughing, cooking, walking the woods, sharing in circles and the like.
  • Am I going to have fun? YES! If you have a positive attitude and are ready and willing to get away on an adventure with an amazing group of women, we’re pretty sure you’re going to have an incredible time 🙂
